Antiscalant (antiscalant, sediment inhibitor) is designed to prevent the deposition of sediment, which is formed by water-insoluble compounds of iron, carbonates of alkaline earth and some other metals, on the surface of membranes. This reagent is recommended for the protection of polyamide membranes.

The use of antiscalant in practice consists in the precise dosing of the reagent into the source water supplied to the reverse osmosis (nanofiltration) plant. Minimal doses of antiscalant provide the possibility of desalination of the source water with almost any hardness value without preliminary softening.

The recommended dosage of the product depends both on the physico-chemical characteristics of the source water (temperature, chemical composition) and on the process parameters (permeate plant performance, permeate extraction degree, membrane type).
